Introductory Lesson

If you want to experience the thrill of clay pigeon target shooting in a friendly and safe environment and have little or no previous experience, then this is for you.

The shooting area is licensed under Section 11 (6) of the firearms act. So you will not require a licence or a gun as we will provide the right size of gun and all the equipment you will need to suit your individual requirements.

Your day will start with tea, coffee or a soft drink and introductions.

First things first we will explain the importance of gun safety and how like any piece of equipment how to use it correctly and safely and what you must not do with it.

The lesson continues to explain the different sizes and types of guns and how they work. You will be shown different cartridges and a brief explanation of some shooting terminology. E.g. Stock, Grip, Barrels, Ejectors, Bore, Choke, Chamber etc.

We will then explain about the fit of your gun and how this can affect you shooting. You will have your eye dominance checked to determine your master eye and how this is critical in ensuring you have a correct visual picture of the target and where you are shooting.

Now is the time for you to take your first shot. This will be done from a safety cage and on a one to one basis with your instructor. Some people get very nervous with their first shot.. It is our experience that most of our clients find the experience very exhilarating experience. Some of our younger shooters are 10 year old and really enjoy breaking clays.

We will start you off usually with a simple incoming target and see how you progress. Each person progresses at a different rate and we gear each lesson individually to reflect that. Our aim is for you to have a safe and enjoyable time with us that you will want to repeat.
