Details of Stalking:

Somerset and Dorset are in the South West of England. Which is blessed with a mild climate due to having the sea to the North and South, which brings little snow or frost in winter Allowing quality food to be available in abundance, therefore allowing our Roebucks to grow their antlers in ideal conditions. You will have the chance to Hunt in over 40,000 (privately owned) acres of Somerset and Dorset. This beautiful part of England boast some of the best Roebucks in the World, we take every year many Roebucks in the 500 grams category and regularly in the 6-700 grams category. The landscape is gentle hills with small woods and fields so no real physical effort is required.

No special clothing is required though it can be wet and so Wellington boots are recommended for the morning stalk as the grass is usually wet.

We hunt twice a day, at dawn for about 3 hours and again 3 hours before dusk.

The morning stalk is a quiet, slow walk, looking for suitable Roebucks and we usually sit and wait in the evenings (High seat or vantage point).

Hunting is always one to one and you will have a friendly experienced guide who knows his area intimately and will advise you on the quality and age of the Roebucks prior to taking any shots.

The Average shot taken is around 80 yards but of course can be closer or further. The choice of taking the shot at any distance is left to yourselves if given the all clear by your guide that it is safe to do so.

Guests usually arrive on a Sunday, hunt five days and will leave on a Saturday. How many will you shoot? well that depends on how selective you are, but it is expected that each hunter will take 3 or 4 Roebucks. The heads are prepared to a high standard and are ready for you to take home at the end of the week.

British Firearm Permits are arranged by us for those wishing to bring their own rifles (minimum .243). For those coming from an EEC country we will need your European Firearm Permit in advance (Home Office regulations). For all countries outside the EEC a faxed copy of your hunting license will suffice (Your will need to provide these at least 6 weeks in advance of your visit). Estate rifles are available for those not bringing their own.

UK Airport pickup is available if required or you can arrange a hire car at all UK Airports at very competitive rates, this will allow you to see more of our beautiful countryside between your hunting trips.

Why not be picked up in style and comfort in our vintage Bently, to enquire for a price please include this in your request when booking a hunt.
